This last semester has been a journey. There were ups, and there were downs. In many of my architecture classes we dug a lot deeper into the more technical side of things. Without a doubt, I have learned a lot more this semester than I did every other, but there was an unexpected challenge.

To finish up my general requirements, I took an advanced English class that was aimed at business professionals. Although this class greatly helped me improve my writing skills, it also challenged me with a weekly blog. Each week, we were to write a blog based on current events related to our major, personal work in our education, or any other topic pertaining to our field of study. Even though it was a challenge to figure out what I was going to write about and actually write it, I kind of enjoyed it. I’m not the type of person that would go out of my way to write random things, only letters, so this was a fun experiment, of sorts, for me. It helped me expand my vocabulary and organize my writing beforehand. It also pushed me to set time aside each week to piece together these little blurbs.

In a professional setting, there are many examples of companies that practice a similar task to my assignment. Each week or month, select organizations push out these blogs or newsletters to simply keep their employees, donors, or customers informed. With this assignment, it really showed me the amount of work it can take to put one of these together. The amount of respect I have for the employees that are tasked with these reports is overflowing.

Even though this assignment is complete the second I post this blog, I have a feeling I’ll have the urge to keep up with it every so often. Of course, not every week as that was stressful enough, but maybe whenever I feel like I have something worthy to share, like a new project, college news, or a sudden burst of inspiration.

To wrap everything up, whoever may be reading this, whether it’s my parents, sisters, friends, or even you, Professor Temanson, I want to thank you all for joining me on this journey. It has been fun at times, and frustrating at others, but over all a rewarding challenge. Even though this won’t be the last post, I thank you all for reading. For now, I have finals to prepare for!
